Amazon Frogbit

Amazon Frogbit (Limnobium laevigatum) is a floating freshwater aquarium plant with round green leaves and long trailing roots. It can add shade, cover, and a natural surface canopy to axolotl, shrimp, and planted aquariums.

Why use Amazon Frogbit in an axolotl tank?

• Creates natural shade beneath bright aquarium lights
• Adds long trailing roots and visual cover
• Provides grazing surfaces for shrimp and microorganisms
• Floats at the surface with no planting required

Amazon Frogbit care

Care level: Easy
Placement: Floating
Lighting: Low to moderate
Growth rate: Moderate to fast

Keep the tops of the leaves as dry as practical. Heavy splashing or constant surface agitation can damage Frogbit. Thin it periodically so it does not cover the entire water surface.

Is Amazon Frogbit safe for axolotls?

Amazon Frogbit is commonly used as a floating plant in cool freshwater aquariums. As with any new plant, rinse it, inspect it carefully, and avoid adding treatments or chemicals that are not appropriate for amphibian tanks.
