Wild Type axolotls show the natural-looking coloration associated with the species, usually olive, brown, charcoal, black, and gold tones with mottling or reflective flecks. They are sometimes called “natural colored axolotls.”
Wild Type vs. Black Melanoid
Wild Types commonly show reflective flecks and often a shiny eye ring, while Black Melanoids usually have a darker matte appearance with little or no reflective shine.
