Before adding your axolotl: Fully cycle the aquarium and confirm ammonia and nitrite are 0 ppm. Keep the water in the 65–70°F target range. 72°F is the danger threshold, so begin cooling promptly if the water reaches 72°F. Regular water testing, waste removal, water changes, and gentle filtration are essential in a 10-gallon aquarium.
