Bloody Mary Shrimp
Bloody Mary Shrimp are Neocaridina with deep translucent red coloration. Unlike many Cherry Shrimp grades, their darker appearance comes from red tissue beneath a more transparent shell.
These live dwarf freshwater shrimp spend much of the day grazing on naturally occurring algae and biofilm. They thrive in a mature, stable aquarium with live plants, moss, wood, rockwork, and other sheltered areas. Supplement their natural grazing with a quality shrimp food as needed, taking care not to overfeed.
Color intensity varies naturally, and shrimp may look paler during shipping before settling into stable aquarium conditions.
Choose from packs of 5, 10, 20, or 40 shrimp. Young adults are approximately 1/2 to 3/4 inch long when shipped. Standard packs are selected without a guaranteed male-to-female ratio.
The 10-shrimp breeder pack is selected to help start a colony and includes 7 females and 3 males.
Maintain stable water conditions and avoid sudden changes in temperature or chemistry. These peaceful shrimp do best with other small, non-aggressive aquarium inhabitants.
Axolotl note: Shrimp kept with axolotls may be eaten and are not guaranteed to remain permanent tank mates. Confirm that the aquarium conditions are appropriate for both species and provide plenty of hiding places.
